Itinerary Details

Day | Destination | Activity
Day 1 | Destination: Arrive Paro | Activity: When you arrive in Paro by Bhutan’s national carrier, Druk Air, your tour guide will pick you up at the airport and then escort you to your hotel. After taking a rest, you will head to enjoy sightseeing around Paro. You will first visit the Ta Dzong Museum, which houses many religious relics, works of art and handicrafts offering a great orientation into Bhutan’s historical, cultural, and religious past. Next drive to the Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples constructed by the Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. This temple is built in a manner similar to the Jokhang in Lhasa, and holds great golden image of Buddha Shakyamuni inside. And Later explore the Paro Rinpung Dzong. Located at the suburb of Paro City, Rinpung Dzong is a fortress built in the 17th Century to protect Paro valley, which offers you picturesque scenery and a sense of inner peace. Day 2 | Destination: Paro to Thimphu (2320m) | Activity: In the morning, we will drive from Paro to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. It will take about 1.5 hours to cover a distance of 54 kilometers. On the way, we will stop to visit the Tachogang Lhankhang which was constructed in 15th century by a great trader named Thangthong Gyalpo. After reaching Thimphu and checking in to the hotel there, we will head to visit the several landmarks of Thimpu, including the Memorial Chorten, National Library, Folk Heritage Museum, Hand-made Paper Factory, the School of Arts and Crafts. And the highlight will come as we tour the Tashichho Dzong (Thimpu Dzong), one of the most beautiful Bhutan dzongs as well as the headquarters of Bhutan government. Later, we will drive back to Paro. Stay overnight in Thimphu.
Day 3 | Destination: Thimphu: Tour the weekend market, visit Changlimithang Archery Range and handicraft shops | Activity: After breakfast, we will the hustling and bustling market of Thimphu. There are varied kinds of local foods and handmade products sold by local people. After a few walk, we will reach Chanlingmethang Archery Range, where you can observe people playing archery in the field. If you are interested you can also participate and experience this sport. After that, you can visit the handicraft shops. And in the evening, we will wander around the Thimpu streets. Stay overnight in Thimphu.
Day 4 | Destination: Thimphu to Punakha (1300m) | Activity: The new day begins with tasty Bhutanese breakfast. After that, we will travel northeast to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. On the way, we will stop at scenic Dochu La Pass (3,100m), where there are about 108 sacred stupas or temples being build out there. The perfect vintage point brings you the unobstructed vista of Great Himalayas. After lunch at Wangduephodrang (1,350m), we keep driving to Punakha, which used to the capital of Bhutan. You will explore the world-renowned Punakha Dzong, widely believed to be the most beautiful Bhutanese Dzong, built at the confluence of Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu Rivers. You will also visit Chimi Lhakhang, a popular Buddhist monastery built around 1499 by Ngawang Chogyal. Stay overnight in Thimphu.
Day 5 | Destination: Punakha to Gangtey (Day Excursion) | Activity: Today, we will first explore the village of Wangduephodrang, which is famous for stone carving after that we take a drive via thick rhododendron forests. Then we will travel southeast to Gangety (Phobjikha). The beautiful place is known for its surprising flat valley in Bhutan and is home to migratory black-necked in winter. Do take a stroll in enchanting Phobjikha Valley and later we will tour Gangtey Monastery, the only and the biggest Nyingmapa monastery in Bhutan. Finally, we will drive back to Punakha.
Day 6 | Destination: Punakha to Paro (2,250m) | Activity: Today we will retrace back to Paro. The ride will take about 4 hours in total. On the way we will be passing via Dochu La pass where we will visit the Druk wangyal monastery and this monastery showcases exclusive paintings of present realm. Stay overnight in Paro.
Day 7 | Destination: Trek to Taksang Lhakhang (Tiger’s Nest) | Activity: Today, you will enjoy a trek to Taktshang Goemba (also known as Tiger's Nest). Standing on the cliff of Paro Valley, Taktshang Goemba (3120 meters) is the landmark of Paro as well as the holiest temple in Bhutan. It’s said that Guru Padmasambhava (also known as Guru Rinpoche) had flied here on the back of a tigress and meditated in the caves on the cliffside for three months. From here, you can catch a panoramic view of Paro Valley. After lunch, you may opt for a stone bath or enjoy free exploration nearby. Stay overnight in Paro.
Day 8 | Destination: Departure from Paro Airport | Activity: Today, our tour guide will transfer you to Paro International Airport for your next destination. Tour service end."
